Consultation on the future of Southend-on-Sea Library Service 2013-2028

What do we want to know?: 

The main aims of the consultation are to:

  • inform people of the proposals to develop the library service over the next 15 years, which are contained within the draft strategy; and
  • seek views on the proposals for the future developments.

We would like your views on the proposals to develop the service for the future.  The proposals are:

  • The main library provision to be at the Forum, Southend
  • Creation of two hub libraries managed and staffed by the Council, one in the East of the town and one in the West
  • Remaining branch libraries to be offered to community groups to be run as community managed libraries, staffed by volunteers
  • The development of a virtual library
  • A range of improvements to the existing services
