Consultation for changes made to Council Tax Reduction Scheme

What do we want to know?:

Each year the Council has to decide whether to make any amendments to the Council Tax Reduction scheme for working age applicants in its area. This year the Council is considering making changes to bring the Council Tax Reduction scheme in line with the changes made by Central Government for Housing Benefit and Universal Credit.

Description:

We are now in the third year of Council Tax Reduction for Southend-on-Sea Borough Council, as a result a review is needed to identify additional savings to contribute to the Council’s budget yet ensuring the scheme;

  • remains fair to residents
  • continues to support vulnerable people
  • encourages those who can work to do so, or to increase their hours and/or pay to reduce welfare dependency

The consultation period is open from 8th August 2016 to 18th September 2016. To have your say please access the survey on the Essex Insight website.
