Hate Incident Reporting Centre

What do we want to know?:

OUTreach, which is Southend-on-Sea Borough Council's LGBT Staff and Allies forum, have launched this survey to understand the need for a Hate Incident Reporting Centre at the Civic Centre and to also understand how residents of Southend are affected by Hate Crime.

Description:

Please give us your comments.

Summary Of Results:

OUTreach will analyse the results and produce a document explaining the residents and visitors initial feeling towards Southend-on-Sea Borough Council becoming a HIRC. This document will be presented along with a report at Corporate Management Team (CMT) for approval. There is currently no time scale set for this.

In the meantime, Outreach and Essex Police’s ‘Hate Crime Officer’ have been working together in the hope that they can deliver a training session on Hate Crime to a selection of the Council's front line staff. This will also support the proposal of the Council becoming a registered HIRC and will play a key role in the overall function of HIRC duties. These training sessions will likely take place in the new year.
