Better Queensway - have your say

What do we want to know?:

Southend-on-Sea Borough Council is developing proposals to regenerate the Queensway area in central Southend-on-Sea, creating a new residential-led development made up of high quality housing, a better living environment and better place for people to enjoy.

At this early stage, and before we start the process of searching for and selecting a development partner next year, we would like to know what you think about our initial proposals, including details on the transport infrastructure needed to bring the development forward.

The scheme will transform the site into a vibrant community of around 1,300 homes, which will include a minimum of 441 affordable housing units, and make life better for both existing and new residents. Our aim is to reconnect communities separated by the Queensway road and improve access to the town centre, sea front, jobs and shops, helping to boost the local economy.

Your feedback is important to us as it will help us to shape the proposals as the development progresses.

Cabinet councillors will discuss the latest project update on Tuesday 13 February where they will also note feedback from the public consultation exercise that took place in late 2017.

This follows the news that the council was successful in its bid for £15m of Government housing infrastructure funding to help deliver the project.

The search for a joint venture development partner to help deliver the Better Queensway regeneration project is set to start in March.
